Derby Academy Derby Academy Hingham, MA Hingham, MA Full-time Full-time $20 - $30 an hour $20 - $30 an hour 3 days ago 3 days ago 3 days ago The Buildings and Grounds Associate is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property, in addition to performing grounds upkeep and custodial work around the school campus.
Essential Functions and Physical Demands:
Maintains a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty/staff and community Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment Provides on-call weekend maintenance support as assigned Maintains a positive and professional attitude Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, semi overhead reaching, walking, climbing stairs, crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, sitting, standing for an extended period of time, shoveling, carrying/lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance and Repairs Reports and responds to emergency calls for maintenance assistance Responds to service requests in a timely manner using the school's maintenance ticketing system Assists in preventative maintenance for building mechanical equipment Performs minor building HVAC, plumbing, electrical and cosmetic repairs Uses hand and power tools as needed to perform duties Groundskeeping Maintains the school's curb appeal by mowing lawns, trimming hedges and other duties as assigned Ensures that walkways and parking lots are clear of debris, leaves, snow, and ice Uses commercial landscaping and snow removal equipment to perform duties Safety and Security Ensures the proper function of doors and windows Reports any safety and security concerns to direct supervisor or any on duty administrator Ensures all exterior lighting is illuminated Collaborates with other staff to implement safety protocols and emergency procedures Act as a liaison with School rentals as assigned Assist with a variety of compliance codes, rules and or laws, related to the daily operations of the school campus Custodial Performs routine custodial tasks as assigned Assists with common area cleaning and responds to custodial requests General dining hall cleaning after lunch periods including removal of trash, recyclables, and compost Cleaning and disinfecting dining hall tables and high touch areas Sweeping and mopping the dining hall and kitchen area floors Assist with exterior trash removal Responds to sanitary related cleanups Equipment and Supplies Reports any low levels of supplies/inventory related to janitorial, maintenance and groundskeeping Assists in keeping equipment in good working order Ensure that storage areas are neat and orderly Requirements Two years of custodial and/or building and maintenance experience Snow removal and landscaping experience Valid Driver's License Pass a criminal background check Hours Full time 40 hours.
1st Shift 6am-2pm, 2nd Shift 1pm-9pm Hours are subject to change due to inclement weather conditions, scheduled events or other emergencies that take precedence.
Collaboration Works closely with other school staff, administrators and faculty to address maintenance and facility-related issues.
Implements the set up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of community events Communicates effectively with school contractors and service providers as assigned Job Type:
